Photo references for rendering matte primitive forms in sunlight
Eleven photographs of 8 primitive forms (aka geo forms) in sunlight, under the same diagonal lighting (about 30 degrees).
You can use these photographs to study shadow construction and rendering. I took them to help me understand the Book "" by Scott Robertson. In the book, as well as other sources, photographs under real sunlight are uncommon.
Rounded forms: cone, cylinder, sphere, ellipsoid, oblate spheroid, and ovoid.
Planar forms: cube and pyramid with a triangular base.
Material: wood painted with matte white
Background: middle grey fabric
Production details: Taken with a 50 mm lens (the perspective convergence is slow and feels natural) and cropped (the object was always in the center of the frame).
